Our 10 golden rules for delivering sustainable live events
We are proud to put sustainability at the heart of every event we deliver at Wasserman Live.
Our skill in mixing experienced international staff with local support means that we keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, whilst maintaining quality and excellent customer service.
Here are the 10 golden rules we follow for every event, to ensure we minimise environmental impact:
- Event Planning
Plan, plan, plan, and plan again. Planning in sustainability at the start of an event ensures this becomes front and centre and is built into every phase, from venue scoping through to substrate selection, packaging materials, number of deliveries, recycling and re-use post-event.
- Artworking:
Ensuring there is a clear artwork programme will assist in larger batch productions, combined deliveries and reduction in return visits to venues.
- PVC:
Remove it from as many materials as possible, including banners, mesh and self-adhesive vinyl.
- Polyester:
Use polyester wherever possible, as it is recyclable and reusable.
- Hard substrates:
All hard substrates need to be reusable or recyclable. We no longer stock or print on Foamex, which we’ve swapped for Akyprint.
- Rental stock:
Use existing branding systems and structures wherever possible, creating a more circular economy and promoting reuse – while also offering cost savings.
- Local production:
Utilise local suppliers for identified elements, reducing transport costs and providing benefits to local communities.
- Installation:
Specify electric plant, avoid generators and plan efficient vehicle movements.
- Travel:
Reduce or remove travel costs as far as possible, using local survey and installation crews where possible.
- De-rig:
Plan ahead, store and reuse where possible, and recycle substrates where reuse is not possible. Employ strategic thinking regarding take down including transport and waste disposal.
