As the start host port for The Tall Ships Races 2018, Sunderland welcomed a fleet of Tall Ships to take part in a colourful four-day festival of culture and entertainment, which we helped bring to life across the city.
Tall Ships Races 2018
Project Overview
The Tall Ships Races are held annually in European waters and are designed to encourage international friendship and training for young people in the art of sailing.
For the start of the 2018 races, a captivating programme of entertainment and cultural activity was delivered across Sunderland over four days. Stretching from Port of Sunderland, over to the North banks of the River Wear, and incorporating the twin coastal resorts of Roker and Seaburn, with beach activities and spectacular viewing points, spectators were treated to a great spectacle as the ships arrived and departed.
To bring the city and the event to life, we were on hand to supply all event overlay and rental products, creating strong, vibrant branding throughout four dedicated zones and city wide. We installed more than 70 flags, supergraphics, wayfinding and directional signage program boards that helped enhance the experience for all involved.
Process
With the event looking fantastic and having a vibrant festival feel, plus each day offering something different, crowds were kept entertained and it was ensured that The Tall Ships Races 2018 will remain a cherished memory in the minds of visitors for many years to come.
Victoria French, from Sunderland City Council, commended our teams on their commitment to the event and how a brilliant yet affordable experience was delivered in a timely manner. She stated, “The team onsite during the event was fantastic and very professional from start to finish.”
