Over an 8-week period our team in the UAE delivered an outstanding and complete Look, feel and wayfinding program for the Special Olympics MENA Games 2018 in Abu Dhabi.
Special Olympics MENA Games
The 2018 Special Olympics MENA 9th Regional Games took place in the United Arab Emirates 14-23 March 2018. Nearly 1,800 athletes with intellectual disabilities of all ages and abilities came together from across the region to compete in 16 sports.
We designed an integrated Look of the Games that was implemented across the whole event. The consistent look and feel was achieved by completing a thorough scoping and surveying of 8 competition venues, 3 common area fanzones and 12 transport and accommodation hubs. We then used this insight to plan, manage, produce and install all the branding to create an impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Alongside Look and Feel, we also completed a full people movement study across the 8 venues and designed an integrated a wayfinding solution that was easily deployed, intuitive and worked well with the feel and event experience for fans and athletes alike.
The event was broadcast by Abu Dhabi Media and distributed across the UAE. Additionally, the Special Olympics streamed events live on their website that could be accessed globally.
Peter Wheeler, CEO of Special Olympics Abu Dhabi 2019 commented after completion of the Games:
“We at the LOC are extremely grateful to the CSM Live team for their efforts leading up to and during the Games. We received many kind comments from SOI, delegations, honoured guests and supporters about the professionalism and creativity of the Venue Branding. I have no doubt that this was the result of exceptional teamwork not only between the LOC and CSM Live, but also within CSM Live itself.”
