This summer, Krispy Kreme celebrated the launch of the new Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Doughnut. To support this we, designed and built a giant, replica Las Vegas style one-armed bandit and landed it in shopping centres and railway stations around the country.
Krispy Kreme – One-armed Bandit
This 3m x 2m fun machine offered odds far greater than any other slot machine. With a 75% win rate, we designed and programmed the game software to monitor stock levels of the 10 different prize formats and adapt the outcomes to ensure that all perishables (doughnuts) were won by the end of the day.
Each day we registered over 1,500 plays with over 1,100 prizes featuring doughnuts, dozen doughnuts vouchers, milkshakes vouchers, chocolate bars, mugs, t-shirts, phone chargers and the golden ticket daily prize of a year’s supply of doughnuts.
Supported by Krispy Kreme brand ambassadors to pull people in and whip up a frenzy, we regularly saw snaking queues of up to 100 people waiting to pull the lever and try their luck at winning a sugary, Hershey-themed prize. Participants were invited to share their Krispy Kreme experience on Twitter under the #vivalakreme handle.
