Working with Sony, we conceptualised, designed and built two photocalls for the Angry Birds Movie and The Shallows at the Cannes Film Festival on the Majestic Barriere Pier.
Angry Birds Movie and the Shallows Photocalls
The Angry Birds Movie
Working with Sony and the cast of the Angry Birds Movie we created the concept of revealing ‘RED’ from inside a 3m x 3.5m custom built polyurethane foam egg which cracked when it was smashed with a mallet. We also produced an impressive backdrop of the Angry Birds character, RED’s, giant 5.5m x 2.8m glass fibre eyes to frame the stunt, as well as producing the dance routine show following the reveal. We managed the entire event from venue selection, site recces, logistics, staff, dancers, props, design, branding and structure for each photocall.
We chose to launch Angry Birds the day before the Cannes Film Festival in order to maximise coverage by local press with over 40 photographers, videographers and journalists turning up to capture the stunt. The launch was a huge success making the front page of Variety in Cannes the next day as well as receiving a large online and social media coverage.
The Shallows
For The Shallows, we launched the two minute photocall to promote Blake Lively’s new film on Friday 13th May. In the same location as the Angry Birds photocall, the Majestic Barriere Pier, we replicated the sea, rock and sharks, remote controlled by our team, as per the film trailer. The stunt attracted 30-40 photographers, videographers and journalists to see Blake lead the launch.
