The AFC Asian Cup was a true demonstration of the talent at our UAE office, as we delivered a colourful experience for both players & fans throughout the tournament including for the final at the Zayed Sports City stadium.
Project Overview
The AFC Asian Cup 2019 was a defining moment for football across the UAE. With 24 nations vying for the title in 8 stadiums and 4 cities across the country, it was the biggest sporting event ever to be held in the region – truly living up to its mission of “Bringing Asia Together”.
We worked alongside the AFC Local Organising Committee to ensure a perfect stage for the football teams, as well as a captivating, engaging tournament experience for the fans.
Delivery included all planning, design, branding and signage at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi and Hazza Bin Zayed, Al Ain – the two largest venues of the competition. Our work at Zayed Sports City was helped by the knowledge gained of the stadium when working on the FIFA Club World Cup in 2018 and 2017, as well as numerous other events we have branded at the stadium.
The final saw over 35,000 fans descending upon the iconic Zayed Sports City stadium as Qatar clinched the win against Japan and were proclaimed AFC Asian Cup champions for the first time in their history. We were also there, bringing the venue to life with strategically placed and recognisable signage, changed out specifically for the final.
The team also branded 16 training grounds and produced the customised designs for the teams’ buses – helping to deliver a memorable tournament for all.

Outcome
The legacy not only stays with the fans who attended live at the stadiums, but the work has also been seen by millions as the AFC Asian Cup was broadcasted live by over 80 TV channels across the globe and the AFC YouTube channel attracted more than 700,000 hours of viewership.
The tournament was hailed as the “most engaging” in history with over 800 million fans interacting with the AFC Asian Cup digital platforms. The branding our team delivered was an integral part of the competition’s success, adding colour to the fan & player experience and enhancing a strong brand identity in the physical space.
Football is a sport that is growing immensely in the region and we wanted to do our best to design and create an unforgettable experience for fans and players alike. The team are proud to have successfully set the stage for what was a fantastic tournament.
