SUSTAINABILITY

We are proud to put sustainability at the heart of everything we do and every project we deliver. Our credentials in this area are second to none. For the past three decades, we have been spearheading progress across the industry by proactively pursuing best practices, implementing cutting-edge innovations and reducing environmental impact across operations and live experiences.

OUR 10 GOLDEN RULES

Our skill in mixing experienced international staff with local support means that we keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, while safeguarding the prime requirements of quality and visibility.

Our 10 golden rules for reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact for every project are:

1. EVENT PLANNING

Plan, plan, plan, and plan again. Planning in sustainability at the start of an event ensures this becomes front and centre and is built into every phase, from venue scoping through to substrate selection, packaging materials, number of deliveries, recycling and re-use post-event.

2. ARTWORKING

Ensuring there is a clear artwork programme will assist in larger batch productions, combined deliveries, reduction in return visits to venues etc.

3. PVC

Remove it from as many materials as possible, including banners, mesh and self-adhesive vinyl.

4. POLYESTER

Use polyester wherever possible, as it is easy to reuse, repurpose, upcycle, downcycle and recycle.

5. HARD SUBSTRATES

All to be reusable or recyclable. We no longer use foamex and have replaced it with the eco alternative, Akyprint.

6. RENTAL STOCK

Reuse existing structures wherever possible, creating a more circular economy – while also offering cost savings.

7. LOCAL PRODUCTION

Utilise local suppliers and crew, reducing transport costs and providing benefits to the host community.

8. INSTALLATION

Specify electric plant, avoid generators and plan efficient vehicle movements.

9. TRAVEL

Only use business travel if absolutely necessary, using local survey and installation crews where possible.

10. DE-RIG

Using the waste hierarchy we aim to help our clients achieve zero waste to landfill. By planning ahead and clearly communicating to everyone on site, we make sure that materials go to the right waste streams.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

At CSM Live, we lead the industry by actively collaborating with manufacturers to explore and action more sustainable options for production materials. Over the years we are proud to have:

  • Eliminated foamex
  • Significantly reduced PVC use
  • Specified monofilamented polyester as the “new norm”
  • Eliminated steel and PVC eyelets
  • Found and implemented a recycling solution for textiles by partnering with the Circular Textile Foundation and Project Plan B
  • Established a circular economy working group across our supply chain

In addition, at the beginning of 2022, we partnered with natural regeneration organisation The Future Forest Company and are on our way to planting 18,000 trees across degraded land in Britain by the end of the year.
