The tournament took place at the Morningside Arena in Leicester and featured the top eight players in the PDC. Originally commissioned in 2018 by Paddy Power to curate a darts event like no other, in the initial year CSM Live delivered a uniquely engaging, lively and fun experience for all in attendance. They created a bold and colourful tournament that translated to the screen for broadcast. This success then lead to the second year contract.
The 2019 brief matched that of 2018 and the event both met, and exceeded, expectations – elevating fan experience even further through multi-sensory engagements.
All 10,000 fans were invited to enjoy the Paddy Power fan zone, an hour before each of the weekends four sessions commenced. This 30m x 30m space featured two bars alongside the fan activations, which included the interactive Challenge Barney, Darts Derby as well as free Paddy Power Personalised Pints.
Each activation offered fans something different – Challenge Barney gave them the opportunity to throw three darts against the 5-time world champion, Raymond Van Barneveld, the bespoke Paddy Power Darts Derby roll-a-ball machine let them represent one of the 8 tournament players in the unique PP ‘bobblehead’ design, and the personalised beer station printed their favourite darts player on the top of their drink.
The challenge of delivering the tournament with even more impact for a second year was one the team relished, bring on the next Champions League of Darts!
