As we launch a new CSM Live office in Germany, we caught up with the highly renowned and newly appointed, Andreas Schrott to talk about his role setting up the new office, his 20 years of experience working within the sports and entertainment industry, and the passions he pursues away from work.
As a new addition to the CSM Live team, can you tell us a little more about yourself and your professional career to date?
Having worked within the industry for almost 20 years, I have been involved in the delivery of some of the most prestigious football events over the course of that time. Notable events that I have helped to deliver are: three World Cups across both the Men’s and Women’s competitions; nine UEFA National Team Competition Tournaments including EUROs and U21s; and 15 UEFA Club Competition Finals.
I have taken the opportunity to work across a range of roles and organisations in my professional career. This involved starting in PR and Marketing for the German football side SSV Jahn Regensburg in 2003 before moving into a number of project and signage manager roles, and then spending the largest part of my career with UEFA as a signage manager between 2011-2018. Then for the last four years I have been working with UEFA and DFB (the German Football Association) as a signage and brand consultant. This has given me valuable experience going into my new role here at CSM Live.
What will your new role entail at CSM Live?
My main focus to start with is to set-up the new CSM Live Germany office and build its foundation, which will include developing a staff and supplier network for the office.
Germany is a major European sports market with major events taking place in the country in the forthcoming years, not least the next UEFA EURO competition coming up in 2024, hosting NFL games for the first time, the Special Olympics and so much more. Therefore, I hope there will be a lot of projects we can work on and keep us busy over the next few years!
What are you looking forward to the most in this role with CSM Live?
After almost 20 years working as a right’s holder and event’s organizer, I am looking forward to taking on this new role at CSM Live. I’ll try to contribute my experience but I’m also looking forward to learning new elements of the business. I am especially excited about getting an inside look into how other sports operate as, so far in my career, I have been primarily focused on footballing events. With the introduction of American Football coming to the nation through the global reach of the NFL plus much more, I am really looking forward to working within this new, exciting role.
Do you have any interesting hobbies, talents or interests you love to pursuit outside of work?
I am a passionate beach volleyball player. Unfortunately, due to obvious reasons I have missed out on getting involved in this over the last couple of years, so getting back on the sand soon is definitely on my list!
When you’re not in the office, what can we find you doing?
When I’m not in the office I try to spend as much time as possible with my 2-year-old daughter. We love to enjoy tours to the lakes and mountains close to Munich.
